I was a member of this chapter some years ago (surname then MacMillan) but due to marriage and my religiuos ministers viewpoints I resigned but am now widowed again and wondered how I can be reinstated.

This is not a comment but a query. I am doing family history for a friend in Sydney who has relatives connected to my family. We are after the burial place of Carl William Nilsson who passed in 1969 and Ethel Nilsson his wife who passed in 1972. On reading Ethel’s history she was connected to your orginisation in the 1900′s. At the time they were living at Balmoral Brisbane. I hope that you can help with my enquiry.

Dear Sister Hardie
How very nice to hear from you – and you have really improved my outlook! I’m from Hanna, Alberta (came here 38 years ago) and I do remember the minus 40 spells! It’s good to remember them now as I sit here at my son’s place which is high and dry! We are in flood again in Queensland and my house has had no electricity for almost 48 hours, and has been cut off (it is now on an island) since yesterday. It won’t get flooded, thank goodness, but we can’t get back for another few hours. Well, there’s no point going back until power is restored – maybe by tonight or tomorrow morning.
I have forwarded your message to Sister Enid Roberts, another Queensland import – from Western Australia – who is the only member in Coolangatta with email.
Say “hello” to Baldur and Maisie Johnson for me, and to Sister Sally Burch from Brandon if you see her. She’s my cousin.

I was looking through various sites on Eastern Star Grand Chapters, found yours and then Coolangatta Chapter.
I have many happy memories of my time in Chapter and if Australia was not so far away I would willingly be back.
My Chapter is still busy but membership is down and several have closed.
We are in the midst of one of the coldest winters in years, and have had a spell of minus 40 degrees but it has warmed up to minus 10 today!!
It would be nice to hear from members who know me.
